2025 Women’s March Madness Odds: UConn, South Carolina Tops The Title Odds

UConn Huskies (+290)

The Huskies blew through the Big East with an 18-0 record, and they finished 30-3 overall! No team had a better point differential than UConn, who were 10^th in points per game with 81.5, and fourth in points allowed with 52.2 points.

UConn torched St. John’s, Villanova, and Creighton en route to the Big East title game. The way they dismantled No. 2-seeded Creighton in the semifinals was incredibly impressive!

The Bluejays are not a bad squad at all, but Paige Bueckers and the Huskies certainly made it look so as they pulled away for a 40-22 lead at halftime and  81-50 win. After missing the NCAA Tournament due to a left knee injury last year, she has come back with a vengeance this season.

Senior guard Paige Bueckers continues to lead the way, averaging 18.8 points, 4.9 assists, and 4.4 rebounds. She is the Big East Player of the Year for the third time, and was inducted into the Huskies of Honor, joining such greats as Diana Taurasi, Sue Bird, Maya Moore, and Breanna Stewart.

But Bueckers got help from freshman forward Sarah Strong, who averaged 16.1 points and 8.3 rebounds, while Senior guard Azzi Fudd isn’t afraid of big moments. Head coach Geno Auriemma, who is just finishing his 40th season at UConn, has the Huskies playing strong team defense.

UConn hasn’t won the national title since 2016, which seems like an eternity in Storrs. But they’re in pole position to claim the title this year, according to the women’s March Madness odds! Given their huge surge and demolition job in the Big East Tournament, it’s hard to bet against the UConn ladies at the moment.

South Carolina Gamecocks (+300)

The Gamecocks earned a share of the SEC regular-season title, tying Texas with a 15-1 conference record, and South Carolina was 27-3 overall. South Carolina won their next four games to capture the SEC title with a 64-45 victory over the Longhorns in the conference championship. It was a wildly strong effort for the Gamecocks over a quality Texas squad.

For the regular season crown, the Longhorns won the title based on a coin toss by the SEC commissioner. It was massive news when the Longhorns beat South Carolina on February 9, as it was the Gamecocks’ first SEC regular-season loss in 58 games!

However, South Carolina ended up getting the last word in the conference championship. The Gamecocks are well-prepared and ready to make a huge splash for a successful national title defense this year.

I do worry about the Gamecocks defensively, where they’re 39^th in points allowed. They’re not as strong on that end of the floor as they have been. Head coach Dawn Staley has definitely worked on that in practice. After three titles in the last seven seasons (the Tournament was cancelled in 2020), Staley has had to work harder with her team.

But even with their defensive issues, you would rather not see South Carolina late in the Tournament!

USC Trojans (+500)

The USC Trojans moved up a spot to the third-best odds to win the women’s national title recently! As a result of Texas’ bad loss to South Carolina in the SEC title matchup, USC has assumed the third spot at BetOnline.

Also, with all due respect to Texas, UCLA, and Notre Dame, I gravitate to teams with great players when looking at women’s March Madness odds. That’s why the nod goes to the Trojans, who won the Big Ten regular-season title with a 17-1 mark, including two wins over UCLA.

Much of their success is down to sophomore JuJu Watkins, who is listed as a guard, but does it all!

The Trojans posted an overall mark of 28-4, with one of those losses coming at the worst time. In a competitive showdown for the Big Ten title, USC came up short in a 72-67 loss to UCLA. Nevertheless, USC’s NCAA Women’s Tournament odds didn’t budge at +500.

Online bookmakers remain optimistic that USC remains one of the top teams in the country and deserves recognition ahead of Texas. Despite the losing effort, USC has shown that they can beat the Bruins. And, again, Watkins is one of the best players in the nation, so the Trojans are going to be a threat.

Watkins averaged 24.6 points, 6.9 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 2.2 steals, and 1.9 blocks for the Trojans, and saved her best for big games, including both games against UCLA. Senior forward Kiki Iriafen had a great season with 18.2 points and 8.3 boards, while freshman guard Kennedy Smith chipped in with 9.5 points.

But Watkins is the straw that stirs the drink for the Trojans, and if she were eligible, Watkins would battle Bueckers to be the #1 pick in the WNBA Draft! The two faced off on December 21 in Connecticut, where Watkins led the Trojans to a 72-70 road win!

But again, I worry about their defensive issues. The Trojans were 56th in points allowed, and their ninth-ranked offense covered a lot of those problems. For instance, the defense failed to step up in the Big Ten Championship against UCLA. That’s fair because Watkins is that good. Can they shore it up enough to win their third national title, and first since 1984?

1. LSU Tigers (+3300)

There is no doubt the Tigers can score points, as they were sixth in the country in that category. The trio of junior guard Flau’Jae Johnson (18.9 points), senior forward Aneesah Morrow (18.5 points), and sophomore guard Mikaylah Williams (17.2 points) can score with anyone in the nation.

But can they stop anyone? The Tigers were 197th in points allowed this season, and head coach Kim Mulkey can’t be happy about that. LSU won the title in 2023, and their defense was the key. The quick-strike offense wasn’t so hot in the SEC Tournament as well. LSU faltered in a 56-49 loss to Texas, dampening their expectations.

The team definitely has to step up at that end of the floor to make their women’s March Madness odds count. If the Tigers can catch a break or two, they might find themselves in the title game, though. At +3300, LSU is worth a small play for your NCAA Women’s National Championship predictions.

2. North Carolina State Wolfpack (+5000)

The Wolfpack shared the ACC regular season title with Notre Dame with a 16-2 mark, ranking 28th in points scored. Senior guard Aziaha James led a group of four players averaging 10.9 points or more with 17.9 points. The Wolfpack hit the boards as a team with five players averaging 4.9 rebounds or more.

But North Carolina State has the same problem as LSU. They were 194th in points allowed, and that’s not going to cut it when you get to the Elite Eight and further. The Wolfpack’s anemic defense impacted them in their 76-62 loss to Duke in the ACC Tournament.  I love their ability to score, but you have to get stops to win the title.

Still, the Wolfpack’s 2025 women’s March Madness odds are so high that a small wager is worth it.
